Trees
Trees are the basis of life on earth. Without trees there would be no life.
Trees are responsible for maintaining a healthy atmosphere. They inhale carbon dioxide, which is harmful for us, and exhale pure oxygen. This helps to sustain the amount of oxygen in air. A single mature and healthy tree gives off the same amount of oxygen every season as ten persons use up.
Trees are enormously important for environment in other ways, too. They act as wind breakers and help alleviate storms and high winds which can be devastating for the landscape. They also help to resist against floods and soil erosion. Soil erosion is avoided by planting trees because the roots of trees form a network in the soil trapping the soil particles in between and preventing them being blown away by severe weather.
Trees help to clean the atmosphere, too. Absorbing the harmful materials in soil, they either store them away or convert them into harmless products. This is also an important role that trees play for the environment.
Trees are also healthy to look upon. They instill an air of freshness in the place where they are grown. They refresh your eyes and emit a sense of hope and well being.
In addition to nature’s service, trees also serve us in many other ways. They provide us with raw materials for construction and for other products. Wood is probably the most important raw material required today. And trees provide it.
Not only that, paper is also made from trees. Paper is very important for this civilized world for learning, teaching and storing information. Trees thus provide us with this invaluable product so necessary in our lives.
Trees also provide us and other animals with food. Fruits and vegetables produced by plants are eaten by humans worldwide. Trees’ leaves are the food for many herbivorous animals.
Many medicines are made by products made from materials taken from trees. This is another field where trees are so helpful to the mankind.
Trees also add to the beauty of many places. In parks, on roadsides and outside your home, trees provide a natural look to the place. They also give nice shade to sit in hot days. They also absorb the heat in summer days and help to reduce temperature. It has been proved that in cities, areas without trees have a temperature of up to 12 degrees Fahrenheit more than areas with trees. They also block the high winds in winter thus helping to alleviate the cold.
In short, trees help us in many known and unknown ways and keeping their numbers will help to keep this world a healthy place to live in.
